1. Rent the necessary supplies — moving straps and a dolly prevent both item damage and personal injury. 2. Keep important items in the cab — wallets, paperwork, chargers; bring them inside first at the new place. 3. Add heavy items first — appliances at the front near the cab to support the weight. 4. Balance the weight on each side — couch, dresser, mattress, box springs. 5. Place soft items between fragile items — pillows, blankets, comforters cushion and stop shifting. 6. Place items you’ll need first in the back of the truck — they’ll be right in front when you open the door.
The most common moving-day mistakes show up at the unloading end: scratched dressers from rubbing against the wall, broken lamps under heavier boxes, and “where did we pack the toilet paper?” panic.
